Where are the Rookie Classes
I am in favor of leveling and rookie classes to give less experienced competitors and those who don't have "world class" quality horses a place to show and be competitive. Here in the Southwest, we never see rookie classes offered except for the Level 1 Championships in Las Vegas. We see Level 1 Classes offered at most shows in the "core" rail and pattern classes. New Rookie Over Fences Classes
I am really excited to see AQHA has finally provided a stepping stone to introduce new horses and riders to the over fences classes. With the new proposed Rookie division for 2018 with fences at 2' set on 11 ft canter stride distances more new riders and horses will be able to get started safely and have fun. Change qualifying for Select World to a format like Level 1.
I would like to see a change in qualifying for select world which would allow more Select Amateur riders to consider the trip to Select World. Many riders qualify under the current system in only 1 class - it is just too far and expensive to travel to a show for just one class. I like the Level 1 system - if you qualify in one class, you have the option to enter any classes you want when you go to the show. I believe ...more »

Qualifying for Over Fences Classes at Select World & World Shows
The Over Fences classes for Hunters are almost never offered at AQHA shows due to the expense of renting jumps and having a course designer. This makes it almost impossible to find shows to compete in to get qualifying points. Can AQHA find a way to use USEF Hunter Jumper Show results to qualify. They use USEF Dressage points now for the AQHA Dressage division, so perhaps they could set up something similar for the ...more »
