The Fees are getting out of hand for the average quarter horse show. $8 dollars per judge is rediculous and starting to become not worth the showing. Soon AQHA is not going to have people showing because of the fees, The small fry and novice are there to learn to get better not to spend all of there money on one show! Not only is it getting too expensive for people it is starting to become a rich person sport, what happened ...more »
If a Youth ( Specifically Youth because AQHYA World is the only world before The Novice Championships) Places Top Ten that year at World, they SHOULD NOT be allowed to show in the Novice championships that same year. It's not fair that real Novices are having to compete against Top Ten horses who are almost guaranteed to win the class.
I believe novice amateur is the only division that is not recognized nor has the ability to achieve an all-around. There is a plethora of novices including myself that show the all-around. Typically shows/circuits will recognize the high point winners of each division but would have been nice for my horse to have this on their record as it is a 50/50 effort of both horse and rider.
Please consider adding the winners of the novice championships just like the world show (yes I know there is 3 ) but these riders work just as hard.i think most would love to see themselves in the journal in a win photo .
I would like to see a way for Novice competitiors to qualify their horses for Performance Halter. This class is offered in a Novice division but there is no way that one showing in the Novice division could qualify for it. As a competitior, I would have to show in Am or Open to earn an ROM which defeats the purpose of offering Novice classes. I understand the points aren't recorded on the horse's record in Novice but ...more »
Please bring back the Novice Amateur Pleasure driving! This class helps those of us (and our horses) that are newer to pleasure driving have a chance!
Currently only state affiliates can offer All Novice Shows. I believe these shows would be a perfect fit for 4-H groups to host. Even other show sponsors could offer All Novice Shows. By allowing others to sponsor the Novice Shows they would be available in various parts of a state thus reducing the cost to exhibitor in travel. Much more attractive to parents!
Add more classes to website list for show leaders such as all level one classes, including level one novice and green classes
While this may be unreasonable because of money, it would really help if there were three instead of two Novice championships. With the East being rumored to move father east, I've seen some people from the mid-west complain about the drive and that if it moves they will not attend. Maybe the solution would be to introduce a Middle Novice Championship, perhaps in OKC. this may be a possibility to also merge the cattle ...more »
We are new to horse shows. We'd like to get involved but it's tough to learn it all. What about a class for new members where they walk through the patterns etc and hear from a judge what they look for?
Novice riders work just as hard to earn their points, if not harder because the classes are usually larger than the open classes. Why not allow Novice points to count towards World Qualification? Even if they are worth half credit (2 Novice points = 1 Youth or Amateur Point) it would still be more rewarding. Even having it so that for every 4 Novice points earned would only equal 1 regular point would be better than them ...more »
A Rookie (horse/rider combo) should be automatically eligible to ALSO show in LEVEL 1 classes at a Novice Championship thus NOT requiring a ROOKIE to nationally or regionally qualify or to get an affiliate "slot". A Rookie can be allowed to cross enter without meeting the qualification requirements of a non-rookie. A ROOKIE is a beginner TEAM (horse and rider). If they want to show UP to the next level we should applaud ...more »
