Encourage judges to disqualify a WP or HUS horse that has it's head set lower than what is written in the rule book. The only way this will stop is if judges refuse to allow this in the show ring. Put an end to this already AQHA. The rules have been set in place for many years yet no progress has been made at all. It is shameful that this is still going on!
Have vets when doing urine/blood testing also do a,tail test. I have seen WAY to many horses with crooked or unusable tails due to nerve blocking too many times or completely cutting the nerves. It is supposed to be illegal, but almost every trainer I know does it and says you have to to be,competitive. Some of the trainers are AQHA judges as well!
AQHA should stop offering 2 yr old futurities!!! The horses who compete in 2 yr old futurities are often started as yearlings. With how large HUS horses are they shouldn't be being ridden and worked at such a young age and AQHA should stop promoting this! And with added money to 2 yr old futurities, the trainers/riders overlook the potential damage they are causing these young horses. It is all about the money regardless ...more »
Limit the number of times that any show management company, or shows managed by those companies, can book individual judges in a rolling 12 month period. When any one management company controls a vast number of show numbers per year, that company holds great power and influence over the individual judges. If a judge doesn't take the manager's 'hint' about who their favorite client or exhibitor in the pen is, that judge ...more »
Create an app that allows you to enter a class (like Rookie Trail), a zip code and a date range. Display horse shows offering that class within a 200 mile radius. A bonus would be to show the numbers if the show offered that class last year.
I think a really nice tool would be a Facebook page (or other social media page) where the show manager/secretary/committee can post information about aqha approved shows. This will enable the smaller horse shows to get their name out to a wider variety of exhibitors, in turn growing show participation.
While AQHA has a riding program recognizing hourly accomplishments, there is no program for horses in distance competitions. Many Quarter Horses are successfully competing in Competitive Trail, Limited Distance, and Endurance races. These horses are excellent representatives of what other talents the Quarter Horse possesses. There are a number of other breed organizations that acknowledge mileage achievements and I would ...more »
Could AQHA add a column on the page when you look up a horse on the "World Show Qualifying" page to see how many points they have so far, that indicates which classes a horse has qualified for? So the page would have, class, description, points earned and another column that says "qualified level 2 or Qualified level 3" for the particular class. It would be easier than having to go to another webpage to find out how ...more »
Please, please replace the score sheets currently available on the show forms link with the new VERY scribe friendly forms that were used at the world show!!! The new world show sheets provided a box for cumulative totals during the run. The past sheets for ranch riding were virtually unusable although pretty
You know how you can do a hotel search and select the "map" option, so you can look at the hotels geographically? Could AQHA take the same idea and revamp that "Find A Trainer" link? It would be awesome to pull up a map and see dots where all the trainers are located, hover over the dot and the trainer's contact information pops up. This need became apparent when I moved to another part of the country. I know the surrounding ...more »
Please provide separate classes for Level 2 and Level 3 at the World show. Right now if you qualified for showmanship and other pattern classes for both level 2 and 3, you can to be judged at at both levels, but only get one go (i.e. you only get to do the pattern once) and you have to pay for two classes. The group classes (western pleasure, etc.) get two different chances to show, once for each level.. If you paying ...more »
AQHA should give access to all Novice Show Results for members for all years - 2014 and 2015, or at least include them in the individual state results through the Journal membership.
