I recently attended the Adequan Select World Show and was fortunate to win a Reserve Champion Title and I am very grateful for my award. I always loved the Rosette Ribbons, and was a bit disappointed to not receive one this year. The medallion in a box is a nice, easy to display award in a trophy case, and I can understand that for trainers and owners of multiple horses, these would be much more practical, however, for... more »
If a Youth ( Specifically Youth because AQHYA World is the only world before The Novice Championships) Places Top Ten that year at World, they SHOULD NOT be allowed to show in the Novice championships that same year. It's not fair that real Novices are having to compete against Top Ten horses who are almost guaranteed to win the class.
Rule changes should be effective Jan. 1 or the first day of the appropriate show season unless designated an emergency priority by the executive committee. AQHA should prepare email blasts regarding all rule changes, and they should be available to all members who wish to be notified.
Please stop allowing HYPP horses to be registered. The disease is a blight on the breed. N/H and especially H/H horses not only go through life with a disability but the attacks are also painful. Why are we continuing to allow the disease to prosper when a generation of careful breeding would eliminate it completely. The only reason it is still in existence is due to the greed of the halter world. Halter should be the... more »
I do hope that AQHA bans the use of CEECOACH Bluetooth connections between trainer and exhibitor in the show ring!!! I know technology is advancing at amazing speed. But I find use in this manner to be HIGHLY unfair! I realize that trainers all coach from the sidelines using all sorts of tactics. But to have a coach in direct, constant communication with an exhibitor in the show ring is going too far! No CEECOACH in... more »
AQHA should post scores sheets from each show along with the score sheets. Since show managers must send in these scores anyway, I don't see why this wouldn't be an easy thing to do. When the show is posted with official results, just have a PDF form with all score sheets from every class, organized by class and then by judge. This way, you always know what you got, even if they were posted in the show office by the time... more »
Hello, I would like to put this idea out there as I am a Ranch Riding enthusiast. However, I am very limited in what I can show at AQHA "pleasure" shows in my area. We do have a show that offers an Non AQHA Open Ranch Rail class which I thoroughly enjoy. Anyway, with that being said I was extremely excited that all AQHA approved shows could offer the individual VRH classes. But that was short lived because there are... more »
Hi! I am Elizabeth Tinnan with the Chattahoochee Horse Archers, Inc. in Northwest Georgia. We are a National Horse Archery Association affiliated club. The American Quarter Horse is perfect for our sport because of their versatility, demeanor and athletic ability. People all over the world are using AQHA horses. We would love for AQHA to recognize Mounted Archery with points or awards. There are teams, clubs and schools... more »
I would like to see a Super Select division. As a 70 year old I would still like to compete but know I can't ride like I did when I was 50 - or even 65. The opportunity to compete on a reasonable level might keep more members involved.
I propose that AQHA legalize snap/magnetic collars in english classes. Virtually all English riders are using these type of collars. I have even heard or some girls going ahead and wearing their snap collars in competition in AQHA and the judge not even noticing, so its not like they can pull the "traditional look" card.
I would like to see a change in qualifying for select world which would allow more Select Amateur riders to consider the trip to Select World. Many riders qualify under the current system in only 1 class - it is just too far and expensive to travel to a show for just one class. I like the Level 1 system - if you qualify in one class, you have the option to enter any classes you want when you go to the show. I believe... more »
I'd like to see class winners at the Level 1 Championship receive an automatic invite to the Level 2 championships at the World Show. (Rookie being the exception.) No need to qualify. Just an automatic invite if you win your class. I think this would be a nice perk and maybe entice more people to show at the Level 1 Championships.
I think there should be an age group for halter horses that are over 10 yrs old. It's difficult for the older horses to compete with the younger ones and this may help eliminate so many aged horses ending up with no show career in halter after they are getting older. The aged horses also are more settled and provide safer options for exhibitors that have trouble handling young ones. I suggest an age group change as follows..... more »
The Over Fences classes for Hunters are almost never offered at AQHA shows due to the expense of renting jumps and having a course designer. This makes it almost impossible to find shows to compete in to get qualifying points. Can AQHA find a way to use USEF Hunter Jumper Show results to qualify. They use USEF Dressage points now for the AQHA Dressage division, so perhaps they could set up something similar for the... more »
I would love it if we could have an alternative competition program, like APHA's PAC program. This allows horses to earn alternative competition points when they are shown in smaller shows and shows that are not AQHA breed shows. Schooling shows, playdays, state shows, barrel racing and gymkhana shows, parades, 4-H shows, team pennings, ropings, horse trials, and other activities that fall outside the category of AQHA... more »
