After about 20 years away from the horse industry my brother has come back as our farm manager. He is a past AQHA judge including having judged AQHA and AQHYA World Shows and trained AQHA Champions. His first comment after attending a recent show was, "What happened to the rules?' Upon further review we noted that the rules have not changed, they are just ignored. Please read the rules for what is expected of a Western ...more »
I think that members should be able to view their OWN horse's records online without having to use the monthly $10 that comes with membership. What other business or organization charges you to access your accounts? If you want detailed records on your own horses you could easily use up the $10 and have to pay more.
Many older horse lovers today may have fear, or health problems that prevent them from loping yet they still want to stay active in riding and horse shows. How about classes, even on the local level, where 55 and older riders can just do walk/trot or walk only trail classes. (In real life, out on the trail, I never loped.) Publish staff directory and contact information on AQHA web site. Also, publish an organizational chart showing the chain of command within the organization.
AQHA should provide a Personnel Directory, along with contact email addresses.
If the AQHA is unwilling to let dressage exhibitors show at the World Show(s), work with the United States Dressage Federation to recognize the highest scoring quarter horse in each division (junior, adult amateur and open) at each of the USDF Regional Championships.

AQHA should have an app for smart phones telling about up coming shows and other updates in the AQHA. Because not everyone logs into the actual website. Aqha needs to make the app so we can access our benefits as well as online registering a foal and so forth.
With the move of the East Novice Championship Show to Lexington, VA; have heard from many novice members living in more central US that the haul for this show will now be prohibitive for their attendance. The addition of the Novice Championship Show finally has created a place for Novice to compete with others at their level. We suggest adding a "CENTRAL" Novice Championship Show (essentially East, Central and West) ...more »
It takes 3 weeks to get a letter from me to AQHA and visa versa. It would make doing paperwork of any kind (with the exception of DNA kits, original certificates...) more cost effective for both parties, as well as more time efficient. I love the new online options for registering foal, submitting breeding reports, etc. Can we please add email to address questions or concerns with pending paperwork quicker? (One question/concern ...more »
Could AQHA offer educational events for youth online. Some could be live webcasts or Google Hangouts and others could be short videos. Topics could range from leadership development, Showing, Caring for Your Quarter Horse, Riding in College, etc. It could also offer a mentorship program to help get other youth involved in AQHA. A survey of AQHA members would certainly be an easy first step in building a list of presenters ...more »
