Correctly annotate color on reigistration papers.

AQHA's inability, and sometimes refusal, to correctly register a horse's color is antiquated. Given the advancements in genetics testing, it is not difficult to correctly register color, even given the constraints of the old computer system and failed upgrade. A sorrel horse with the champagne dilution should not be registered as a palomino. Grey is not a base color, it is a type of white pattern and can easily be noted ...more »

Utilize Email for contact with Members

A lot of members funds are wasted sending out useless letters when an email would be quicker & more cost effective, as well as allowing a response to be directed back to the person handling the paperwork/issue.

The AQHA need to get n the 21st century & use the tools available.

Make an Online Handbook available as one pdf

Please make a pdf available with the handbook all in one download. I could always just search and my subject would scan the entire handbook for the information I was seeking. Now I have to do section, section, section. Hate it. Too time consuming for me. It would be ok to leave the sections for those who like them; but make it available as one pdf for those of us who download it to our computer. Thank you for your consideration ...more »

Animal Welfare And Abusive Trainers

AQHA has got to start doing something regarding the cruelty being dealt out to our beautiful horses from the horribly abusive trainers, especially the repeat ones that just continually do it, year after year after year. You just can't continue to suspend them for one year, fine them, then allow them back in. If the executive committee doesn't know this, AQHA has become the laughingstock of the horse show WORLD!!! WE are ...more »

5 Panel Test Results Listed on Papers

I have tested both my stallions & mares at considerable expense with all being negative. I understand from UC Davis that my offspring will all be negative as none of the diseases are carried thru with negative parents. Thus why not list this on the papers. Why spend money on the future offspring for tests not needed. Results should be listed on Registration papers!

Create a "Name Change Form" new horse's name

AQHA desperately needs a "Name Change Form" for when a new name is desired for a previously registered horse. AQHA registration department fields many phone calls and tells "the member to write down on a piece of paper and send in $55". This form can be listed in AQHA: Resources section within "Printable Forms" near the AQHA Transfer Report.

Change in AQHA Website

This site is now less useful than before the change in "look". It is no longer accepting votes on individual comments. (You can vote on the main idea, but not the comments below it). Searching is also not as efficient as before. Change is only good if it is an improvement. So far, the change in the website is not an improvement and we would be better off if it were put back as it was.

All Around Awards

ALL classes should count for Select All Around !!! If not offered as a Select separate class, at least count our entry into the Amatuer class. I think We are very limited on what classes we can choose from, it's not going to add any more "time" to the shows if you would just please count all of our classes we enter.

Why small shows are dying out

I recommend AQHA limit the number of circuits in each state to encourage exhibitors to attend weekend shows. I realize many exhibitors love the circuits. Trainers only have to set up once. But these are killing the small shows. Looking at AQHA shows in Indiana and Kentucky I noticed something sad. Adding all the shows March through July Indiana has 27 AQHA shows. Of these all but 3 were split combined, many are circuits. ...more »
