A LOT of exhibitors renew online (or when telephone solicitors were used) and when they come to enter their card is only an open membership and they must purchase the upgrade to amateur, amateur novice or youth novice (if qualified). This should be corrected so the applicant gets the appropriate membership.
Fees for late registration are way too much. I think the fees should be regular price until 2 yrs old then anything after a $100.00 penalty. Who can afford to register a horse after they are 4 yrs old? I think if the fees were cheaper more horses would be registered with AQHA and that would help the association.
I think AQHA should recognize eventing as they have dressage. There are so many exceptional event horses, especially at the lower levels, that deserve recognition from their breed association for their accomplishments!
I believe novice amateur is the only division that is not recognized nor has the ability to achieve an all-around. There is a plethora of novices including myself that show the all-around. Typically shows/circuits will recognize the high point winners of each division but would have been nice for my horse to have this on their record as it is a 50/50 effort of both horse and rider.
I'd like to see AQHA have seen incentive to register older AQHA horses for a limited time at the rate of registering a foal, ideally more than once a year they should offer this promotion
Why do original certificates of deceased horses have to be sent to AQHA for cancellation? If the international affiliates had the authorization to stamp the certificates "deceased" AQHA would save a huge amount of money on postage and manpower.
Why not have Open Stake race, maybe it would bring in a few more speed event entries
(e) A horse is eligible to receive a new appendix certificate if foaled in an international country with a Quarter Horse Association recognized by the American Quarter Horse Association which operates its own stud book; was issued a registration certificate by such association; and which traces to a minimum of 93.75 percent (15/16) lineage to horses registered with the American Quarter Horse Association and the Jockey ...more »
I believe there should be an option to place no breeding rights on a horse especially a mare due to genetic defects or other issues and securing the fact they won't reproduce under new ownership. Especially those with PSSM and other life altering issues
I would love it if AQHA started a 1/2 AQHA registry similar to the 1/2 Arab registry. I feel this would increase our member base and increase revenue for AQHA through registration, show and member fees, not to mention help maintain records for these horses
Since aqha changed the white line rule they should also change the rules and let solid color paint horses ne reg with the AQHA. Its only fair! I have 2 solid black yearlings only white is on there pasterns. To me there Quarter horses. What do u all think ?
