I would like to suggest that AQHA seriously consider moving the implementation of the ranch rail and ranch trail classes up to 2016 if not sooner. The membership has made it very clear that they are very much in support of ranch classes. AQHA has a huge opportunity here. The membership is asking, no, begging for these classes. How can the association not jump in with both feet and do whatever it takes to make this happen, ...more »
I continue to read the QHJ and with interest read how AQHA has instructed judges to NOT place horses with a slow lope and rolling the peanut. But yet.....YOU CONTINUE to do so and without reprimand of the judges who do. You need to cease this once and for all and enforce the rule! Start monitoring your judges and clean house.
I would like to suggest that AQHA consider offering more advantages to being (and incentives for becoming) a Lifetime member. For instance, as a long time Lifetime member I would really appreciate receiving unlimited access to AQHA records from the AQHA website. This would cost our Association nothing and would probably grow our Lifetime memberships. Most AQHA "Life-ers" are strong, committed members who show, breed, ...more »
No individual on the Executive Committee or the most powerful committee, the Stud Book & Registration Committee, should be allowed to vote on rule changes that directly affect them financially. Also, there should not be several individuals involved in a portion of the industry (i.e.) racing on the Stud Book & Registration Committee.
AQHA's attempts at leveling, while honorable, have not produced the desired result and there are still lots of complaints being aired on online forums, at horse shows, and in general conversations with other AQHA enthusiasts. For example, the rules for Rookie don't allow a horse with over 10 points to be shown in that division. That makes zero sense --a rookie rider SHOULD be on a seasoned show horse! Rookie is the only ...more »
A search feature which would list registered horses by owners name would be nice. Entering the owners name would yield a list of horses currently registered to that person.
I don't understand why I don't have online access to all of my horse's information. This includes show recors, lineage, progeny....etc. I shouldn't have to pay for this information on my own horses. Actually all of this information sound be free to members, not limited to monthly dollar amounts. AQHA is getting more expensive and losing out to free databases because of this. You can get a lot of info on all breeds ...more »
On average mail takes at least 2 weeks to get from AQHA to us. With the way the testing is set up right now (AQHA-mail-me-mail-lab-mail-aqha-mail-me) if everyone completes their task first thing in the morning and the mail goes out same day this results in a 8week turn around from ordering the test to having results - and that is in a perfect world, which we all know this is not. So add in the 3-5days for the lab to process, ...more »
I'd like to see AQHA add a list of my currently owned and previously owned horses on the my AQHA website. This could simplify many forms as well as you could select a horse from the list and print a pdf that generates with it's information to submit, for things such as five panel testing, color testing, DNA parentage verification... creating new foal registration, the list goes on. This could also allow each person to ...more »
I can't tell you how many horses I've come across, either helped to sell or rode for someone, who didn't have clean transfers because the transfer form is seperate from the papers. Novice owners don't realize you need papers AND transfer form. 2 pages are easy to lose - especially if you don't realize what the second form is. Years ago, the transfer was the back of the horse's papers - so if you had the papers, you ...more »
This will assist owners, buyers, breeders in answering the question of IF a horse has been tested and the result of said test(s) and will relieve the AQHA customer service representatives from answering basic questions of whether or not a horse has been tested, either as required or by preference. Not that it should be a factor, but it would also be a way to increase a small amount of funding $1 at a time when members ...more »
I would like to see AQHA make it a priority to fix their data system this year. It makes me crazy that there are gaps in World Show Results- 2008 and 2009 are non-existent which I feel is a slap in the face to members who showed in those years. Also, it is February 20th and there are still no results posted for 2015. If show managers have to submit results within a specific timeframe, AQHA should have to post results ...more »
