This is likely a Rule Proposal that needs written up but i'll post it here for feedback. It is noted that you are not able to show at the Select World Show and the Amateur/Open World Show. You have to choose one or the other if you qualify for both. Also, you are unable to show the Level 1 Select Amateur and the Level 1 Amateur Class at the Level 1 Championships With that being said I think it reasonable that there ...more »
It would be nice to have a format in which exhibitors were not dependent on show committees to offer specific levels in classes. It is unfair for those showing in lower or entry levels to be lumped into a category they would not compete in simply because most shows choose not to offer leveling in a particular class versus another - or at all. When a show you are competing at does not offer leveling you are automatically ...more »
Please consider adding Ranch Rail Pleasure and Ranch Halter classes to AQHA shows. I've really enjoyed these classes an non-AQHA shows, and I think they would make a valuable addition to the AQHA show sheet. They would also make it possible to have a Ranch Division Champion/High Point. I understand that it would really be adding 8 classes, not just 2 (Open, Amateur, Novice Amateur, Youth), but I think it would really ...more »
The AQHA has recognized the United States Dressage Federation for dressage several years ago. The AQHA should do the same with the United States Eventing Association for three day eventing. This would enable the USEA to provide AQHA with points and/or money earnings on American Quarter Horses competing in eventing.
Please consider adding the winners of the novice championships just like the world show (yes I know there is 3 ) but these riders work just as hard.i think most would love to see themselves in the journal in a win photo .
We would like to show both at the silver dollar and the Arizona sun circuit but they obviously do not keep the exhibitors in mind when scheduling. My daughter is a youth how will she show both shows? We are from Oregon so were they thinking exhibitors would go home in between?? She shows in Vegas feb 24-27 , and then March 8 -12 in arizona. Do they not think of the exhibitors? You would think if they would like larger ...more »
Wouldn't it be great if AQHA subsidized classes that are aimed at teaching people how to provide additional care in the way of massage therapy, first aid, improved mental well being, etc. to their equine athlete? I think all of our horses would thank us for having this additional knowledge and would help keep our quarter horses happy and sound. Currently, a massage therapy course is around $700.00. This service could ...more »
I think it would be great if while we were looking up records we have access to see if a horse has been 5 panel tested.
Reduce the judges to 4 and drop the low score. It will save time, money and we can keep our high scores! The winner will be the highest score instead of an average.
It would be great if AQHA could add a web page with all of the state and regional quarter horse associations information including the various association websites. This would really help the volunteer run associations their information out. Also, what about once a year having a page or two of photos from state/regional association award banquets showing off what kinds of prizes are given out. This would also encourage ...more »
Suggestion -- It would be nice if The Journal provided the details on what it takes to earn the various lifetime awards, such as performance champion versus AQHA champion, etc. (example AQHA Open Champion - min of 15 halter points, # number of performance points in 2 categories or whatever it is, as I can't ever remember). I love seeing what different horses and riders have earned each month, but find that I have to ...more »
Distance riding is quite an accomplishment and should be recognized. Also, it adds to the many uses of the AQH.
