Recent reports of very high salaries for AQHA staff and financial losses underscore the need for increased accountability to the membership. The AQHA needs to provide this information on an ongoing basis for the membership and solicit feedback from the membership concerning these issues that directly affect the organization's ability to function. AQHA should keep members updated on our organization's financials. Release an annual statement showing where our money was spent. That would make members feel much better about all the fees tacked onto our show bills. Transparency would show AQHA's integrity as a non-profit, and also increase trust among members.
No individual on the Executive Committee or the most powerful committee, the Stud Book & Registration Committee, should be allowed to vote on rule changes that directly affect them financially. Also, there should not be several individuals involved in a portion of the industry (i.e.) racing on the Stud Book & Registration Committee.
