Wanting go see if there' any way to stop my Amateur entry from being turned in as Amateur Select. I do not enter the Select class & highlight on the entry form NO SELECT, but because of my birthdate, my class results are being submitted to AQHA as Select. I've been told there's nothing I could do to request a correction because results are signed & submitted. Missing year end opportunities because points are not being ...more »
Please consider adding Ranch Rail Pleasure and Ranch Halter classes to AQHA shows. I've really enjoyed these classes an non-AQHA shows, and I think they would make a valuable addition to the AQHA show sheet. They would also make it possible to have a Ranch Division Champion/High Point. I understand that it would really be adding 8 classes, not just 2 (Open, Amateur, Novice Amateur, Youth), but I think it would really ...more »
Create an app that allows you to enter a class (like Rookie Trail), a zip code and a date range. Display horse shows offering that class within a 200 mile radius. A bonus would be to show the numbers if the show offered that class last year.
AQHA should "sponsor" or ask for added value from the PRCA to include AQHA branded television graphics on every horse in the Wrangler NFR to include the horse's registered name, barn name, color, gender, age dam and sire on screen as the horse prepares to perform in the arena. This would increase AQHA TV visibility and importance of the horse in the sport of rodeo.
The recently published tentative schedule for ranch riding (including junior, senior and amateur) requires anyone that wants to exhibit in all three of these classes to be at the show for nearly two weeks. That is not possible for those of us amateurs who work outside the horse industry. Please try to shorten this timing prior to finalizing the schedule. One week instead of two would be very much appreciated. Otherwise, ...more »
I would like to suggest that AQHA seriously consider moving the implementation of the ranch rail and ranch trail classes up to 2016 if not sooner. The membership has made it very clear that they are very much in support of ranch classes. AQHA has a huge opportunity here. The membership is asking, no, begging for these classes. How can the association not jump in with both feet and do whatever it takes to make this happen, ...more »
During the 2015 AQHA Convention, the Show Committee recommended initiation of a ranch horse trail class for the third year in a row and the initiation of a ranch rail pleasure class for the second year in a row. Both recommendations were passed as part of the committee reports during the closing membership business meeting. The stipulation was made that neither class would be implemented until 2017. The rationale for ...more »
I have been trying to find a stallion to breed a mare to for some months now and it is next to impossible. Breeders do not advertise like they used to and unless you are already aware of the stud, it is not possible to find what you are looking for. The AQHA horse search database would be invaluable if it were possible to search in a logical manner, not only in stallion searches, but for potential sale horses, etc. I ...more »
I think that AQHA needs a youth social media coordinator. This person would try to encourage more youth the join AQHA and become more involved. They would help manage the AQHA youth Instagram, Facebook, Youtube, and Twitter pages. As a participant in the 2013 AQHA Young Horse Development Program, I was able to reach out to other youth about the program by creating a Facebook page, "Megan D'Andrea and Willow 2013 AQHA ...more »
I strongly feel that the stallions to be eligible for breeding and foals to be registered should under go an evaluation to be accepted as breeding stock. The American Quarter Horse is in dyer need to under go change. A chance to perfect it's stock and preserve the quarter horse. An effort to stop poor breeding choices and discourage and educate the members is being made. This needs to continue. Horses need to be registered, ...more »
Most will agree that we need to find a way to expand the number of people and horses showing at AQHA shows in order to improve the equine market. Currently less than 2% of AQHA members are participating in the current show system because only the very best horses and riders can achieve success and feel competitive. The following suggestion would bridge the gap for riders and horses. There is a place for every horse ...more »
I would be interested in a "ranch" type class as part of the halter classes as part of the Ranch Horse Divison. In my mind it would be similar to the way performance halter type horses are judged. Having a Ranch Halter, Ranch Trail, Ranch Pattern and a Ranch Rail class would round out a full division in my mind. As far as it goes for me - Its really tough for me to make the trip and show AQHA shows with my Ranch Horse ...more »
If AQHA is going to judge all HUS horses on the basis of them jumping later on in their careers then I think AQHA should add an English Pleasure class for HUS horses to show in that are not built to ever jump, that way you are not excluding quality horses in an era when show numbers are down.
I think the association has micro managed our showing divisions to the point of total confusion, the novice, rookie and leveling are crazy, this is suppose to be fun and stress free. Go back to how it used to be very simple (novice, open, amateur, youth, select, etc) just increase the novice point totals to say 50. By adding all these levels and divisions all that AQHA has done is make the shows longer with smaller classes ...more »
I'd like to see AQHA have seen incentive to register older AQHA horses for a limited time at the rate of registering a foal, ideally more than once a year they should offer this promotion
