Quaifying for Noice Championship should go on horse record

Qualifying for the novice champsionship is a big deal and it should show on the horses record just like qualifying for the world show. I know novice is on the rider, but if it wasn't for my horse, I wouldn't qualify. Being on his show record makes him more marketable to a novice rider.

Be able to fill out AQHA Level 1 (Novice) Application on-line

I would like be able to fill out my AQHA Level 1 (Novice) Application on-line instead of filling out a piece of paper and sending it to AQHA. This might also help show offices where they could have a PC hooked up so that exhibitors could submit their Novice applications.

Dressage Suitability Class

I am proposing a Dressage Suitability class for horses in the HUS ring who will never go on to jump. I have noted on several occasions a desire for judges to not place these horses along wiith not placing peanut rollers, and so forth. This claass would help to leve the number of western riding classes and provide a forum for our qh's who are not destined for the hunter ring. I am seeing more and more qh's moving into ...more »

Pick-Up Horse of the Year Award

I think it that AQHA should partner with PRCA to create an award for PRCA Pick-Up Horse of the Year. Of course, not all pick-up horses are AQHA, however a majority of them are registered Quarter Horses. The pick-up horse, much like the cowboy riding it, does not get appreciated enough. They have to be catty and fast like a barrel horse, and they must watchy like a steer wrestling horse. They need to be able to rope, carry ...more »

Mandatory Class Leveling

It would be nice to have a format in which exhibitors were not dependent on show committees to offer specific levels in classes. It is unfair for those showing in lower or entry levels to be lumped into a category they would not compete in simply because most shows choose not to offer leveling in a particular class versus another - or at all. When a show you are competing at does not offer leveling you are automatically ...more »

Prohibit Cross Entering Between Select Amateur and Amateur

This is likely a Rule Proposal that needs written up but i'll post it here for feedback. It is noted that you are not able to show at the Select World Show and the Amateur/Open World Show. You have to choose one or the other if you qualify for both. Also, you are unable to show the Level 1 Select Amateur and the Level 1 Amateur Class at the Level 1 Championships With that being said I think it reasonable that there ...more »

Change qualifying for Select World to a format like Level 1.

I would like to see a change in qualifying for select world which would allow more Select Amateur riders to consider the trip to Select World. Many riders qualify under the current system in only 1 class - it is just too far and expensive to travel to a show for just one class. I like the Level 1 system - if you qualify in one class, you have the option to enter any classes you want when you go to the show. I believe ...more »

State QHA's

I think each state should have to keep their shows within their state, seems some states have Shows further & further away out of their state (?!)

Thoroughbred Incentive Program (TIP) Partnership with AQHA

Has AQHA ever considered partnering with the Thoroughbred Incentive Program (TIP) for their hunter classes and such? With as many TB mares that go on to produce quality Appendix foals out there, it would seem to me that AQHA would want to get on board with making the TB a featured breed right alongside the QH. It would help to offer more recognition of the TB mares that went on to do well in the TIP Program and then for ...more »

Classes for older halter horses aged 10 and up

I think there should be an age group for halter horses that are over 10 yrs old. It's difficult for the older horses to compete with the younger ones and this may help eliminate so many aged horses ending up with no show career in halter after they are getting older. The aged horses also are more settled and provide safer options for exhibitors that have trouble handling young ones. I suggest an age group change as follows.. ...more »

AQHA Alternative Competition Program

I would love it if we could have an alternative competition program, like APHA's PAC program. This allows horses to earn alternative competition points when they are shown in smaller shows and shows that are not AQHA breed shows. Schooling shows, playdays, state shows, barrel racing and gymkhana shows, parades, 4-H shows, team pennings, ropings, horse trials, and other activities that fall outside the category of AQHA ...more »

Judge's Card

I'd love to pursue a judge's card, but after looking at the application I feel like there is no way I would have a shot. I don't have a show horse and I do not breed horses. I do coach youth horse judging though and have been doing so for about 10 years. I've had very successful teams at the local and National levels - including the high individual in the performance division, along with other team awards at The Congress ...more »
