With all the new products and feeds on the market these days horses are living longer healthier lives. AQHA should honor these horses and their owners. I would suggest a contest or do an article on the oldest registered still living horse and find out the secrete to their longevity. Possibly offer as a prize a years supply of the supplements and feed that led to the graceful aging of that particular horse.
Please consider adding the winners of the novice championships just like the world show (yes I know there is 3 ) but these riders work just as hard.i think most would love to see themselves in the journal in a win photo .
I would like to see more articles about the art and science of nutrition in our AQHA journal. Like the articles on reproduction and emergency medicine, or general veterinary procedures. Just put articles about nutrition authored by veterinarians and equine nutritionists in the magazine. You could add articles in extra space and you wouldn't have to cut any other articles out to print articles about nutrition. I love ...more »
To log the hours of the Horseback riding program is some kind of laborious. If you want to log hours online on the smartphone it's so impractical that I resigned to do it. I do it online on the PC. It's a little bit easier now with the new AQHA page and the login but it would be even more easier with a special app for the smart phone.
Please provide a resource or 'how to' article for those of us trying to haul horses between Canada and VS affected states - Arizona, Coloradeo
In October of 2014, my best friend, Tuffernhel Joc, aka Joc, was struck with Equine Recurrent Uveitis, or ERU for short. This crippling disease occurs when the immune system attacks the eye, causeing severe pain, cataracts, shrinking of the eye, and eventually, blindness. The disease is progressive, and occurs at random intervals, ranging from one week after the previous attack to a year. Joc suffered though the pain, ...more »
Every division of horse racing has its end of the year awards. Yet still the asst starters recieve no accolades for there contribution to racing. In quarter horse racing this position is ever so critical to the success of the trainer, rider, breeder and owner.. The value of some of these races exceeds the millions. A valet gets 10percent to simply saddle the horse yet in some states its considered bribary or unethical for ...more »
My suggestion is to run a story on past Youth exhibitors that are now successful professional adults about what lessons they learned showing horses that they now use in their professional careers. Also how showing horses made them who they are now. I would focus on people who have been out of youth at least 10 to 15 years. I think this story would be of interest to several people including parents of youth kids now. ...more »
AQHA should reg all solid color paint horses. If one parent is a registered Quarter Horse. They are reg all these paint horses with all kinds of white on the. It makes more sense to register solid paints
95% of mexican breeders don't understand english letters, so we need that AQHA send all the letters in spanish. Each year, only 5% (3500) of mexican owners do the transfer process (60,000), most of them don't change the transfer caused by the language.
I think that AQHA needs a youth social media coordinator. This person would try to encourage more youth the join AQHA and become more involved. They would help manage the AQHA youth Instagram, Facebook, Youtube, and Twitter pages. As a participant in the 2013 AQHA Young Horse Development Program, I was able to reach out to other youth about the program by creating a Facebook page, "Megan D'Andrea and Willow 2013 AQHA ...more »
AQHA could save alot of money by eliminating multiple Journals being sent to the same address. I have a number of memerbship IDs used for different partnerships, etc. I try to help keep your costs down by stopping the extra Journals that are mailed to my house. But it always starts back up and soon I'm getting 2-3 every month. I try to give them away to non-members, but usually they go in the trash. Here is how ...more »
